January 2025 Reading Wrap-Up: A Slow Start or Full Speed Ahead?

12 books, zero five-star reads, and a slow start to the year—let’s talk January reading habits!

The Reading Under the Covers: Extra Bite podcast is a bonus podcast and a paid members feature.

January is never my strongest reading month. I always think I’ll start the year off with a bang—TBR prepped, goals set, fresh reading tracker ready to go. But then reality hits, and I end up reading in fits and starts, with stretches of time where I don’t pick up a book at all.

This year was no different. I read 12 books, which I’m happy with, but it definitely wasn’t a month of nonstop five-star reads. My reading goal is already slightly behind schedule, but am I stressing? Absolutely not. February is a new month, and I’m ready to pick up the pace!

What about you? Do you usually start the year in full force, or does January tend to be a slower month for you too?
