The League of Lusty Ladies Romance Book Club: February 2025
Love is in the air, and our League of Lusty Ladies book club is embracing the romance in full force this February! After your votes here on Substack, I’m thrilled to announce that we’re diving into a historical romance this month—plus, we’ve got a bonus Valentine's Day novella for an extra swoon-worthy read.
But before we get into February’s picks, a quick update on our January Book Club discussion: We read A Kiss of Iron by Clare Sager, a fantasy romance that brought us intrigue, adventure, and plenty of tension. If you’ve finished the book, don’t forget to join us for our live discussion—now rescheduled for February 8th! Angela will be joining me, and we’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments during the stream. This is where you will find the live.
📖 February’s Pick: In Scandal with the Duke by Stacy Reid
For our main pick, we’re reading In Scandal with the Duke by Stacy Reid, the first book in the Sins and Sensibilities series! This is a spicy historical romance that checks all the right boxes:
💋 Tropes: Enemies to lovers, opposites attract, older brother’s best friend
🔥 Vibes: Scandalous, steamy, and full of swoon-worthy tension
📖 Story: American heiress Elisabeth Armstrong has had it with fortune-seeking suitors. But when she crosses paths with James, the notorious Duke of Basil, things heat up. He has one rule—no entanglements with debutantes. But Elisabeth isn’t like the others, and their no-strings fling turns into something neither of them expected…
With Book 4 in the series (Midnight Rendezvous) releasing later this month, this is the perfect time to start!

Why this book?
You guys picked a historical and I wanted to make sure it was: a) spicy! and b) written by a Black author to celebrate Black History Month. And what better one to introduce you to than Stacy Reid. I’ve enjoyed her books in the past but haven’t started this series and book 4 is releasing this month!
💕 Bonus Valentine’s Novella: Petty Cupid by Sarah Blue
Because what’s February without a little Cupid chaos? If you’re looking for a quick, fun, and unique Valentine's read, we’re also reading Petty Cupid by Sarah Blue.
💘 Tropes: Fake dating, revenge romance, supernatural shenanigans
👻 Vibes: A feisty Cupid, a brooding Grim Reaper, and Valentine’s drama
📖 Story: Our Cupid heroine is on a mission—to make her ex jealous. But she needs a date to the Valentine’s Ball, and who better to fake-date than the Grim Reaper himself? What starts as a petty plan spirals into something dangerously real…
This one is also on Kindle Unlimited, and if you enjoy it, there’s a whole series (Love in the Veil) waiting for you.
